“Healthy, vibrant and caring” is the town of Lasalle’s motto. It’s one of the largest and most popular bedroom communities because of its proximity to Windsor, its affordability and options for new construction. Located in the northwest quadrant of Essex County, Windsor is just a 20 minute drive away. Lasalle’s roots date back to the 1700s and the town was named after French explorer Rene-Robert Cavelier de la Salle. The population is growing each year with 30,000 people currently calling Lasalle home, including a large Italian community.

Although Lasalle is home to many popular subdivisions, it’s also home to a significant amount of wetlands, Carolinian forests, tall grass prairies and natural heritage areas. In fact, 7% of the land of Lasalle is considered a natural heritage area. It’s a perfect place for those who love retreating to their quiet, suburban neighbourhoods while being close to the city.

The standard of living in Lasalle is very high with an average yearly income of $108,000. It’s a short drive to the 401 and the Windsor-Detroit border and is also very close to Essex County’s burgeoning wine region.

LaSalle is the perfect place to live if you love being outdoors. In total, the town has over 25 kilometres of hiking, walking and biking trails, a rowing club and several marinas to launch your boat on the Detroit river. Situated within the boundary of Lasalle is the private Essex Golf and Country Club, which has hosted past PGA tournaments.

The Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex is home to many different activities for people of all ages. It includes 2 NHL-sized ice pads, a gym, pool, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, running trails, an outdoor amphitheatre and lots of parking.

Hockey lovers can cheer on the town’s Junior B team, the Lasalle Vipers who play at the Vollmer or drive to Detroit in less than 30 minutes to cheer on the Red Wings!

Real Estate

Lasalle is one of the hottest markets in Essex County with home starts on the rise. It’s one of the most popular places to build in the area with the town reporting an average annual growth rate varying between 2.5 to 4%. Town council is anticipating its future planned needs in order to keep up with the demand for new builds as people flock to the area.


Lasalle has a very skilled workforce with 1/5th of all residents who hold a university degree. Tool and die is also a huge industry in Essex County, with fully serviced industrial land available in Lasalle. The unemployment rate is low with manufacturing and retail listed as the two main sectors of in-town employment.
